In January 2004, Californians Care learned of proposed cuts to In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), a program that is vital to the survival and independence of many seniors and disabled individuals in California. As a coalition dedicated to ensuring that Californian’s most vulnerable residents remain protected and cared for; we took action. Through our efforts, which included various rallies, press conferences, and visits to California legislators, the Governor was persuaded to secure a federal waiver and rescind all of the proposed cuts to the program. This represented an enormous victory for Californians Care, its supporters, and the hundreds of thousands of Californians who depend on IHSS for their daily survival. Please take a look around and see the faces that made our campaign so successful.
