A Letter from Our Chairman, Hugh Hallenberg

Hello, and welcome to the website for Californians Care! We’re a coalition of concerned individuals, organizations, associations, community leaders, elected officials, and religious communities dedicated to ensuring that California’s senior citizens and individuals living with disabilities retain their dignity and independence.

Currently, California is home to significant populations of seniors and those living with disabilities. According to the California State Plan on Aging, in 2005 California was home to 5.5 million people aged 60 or over. It is anticipated that, in 2020, that number will have increased by nearly 60% to 8.7 million. Furthermore, in 2000 over 5.9 million Californians were identified as possessing a disability. With so many seniors and people with disabilities living in California, and with these numbers expected to rise significantly in the next decade, it is imperative that we continue to secure a dignified and independent future for these residents.

I invite you to join us in our fight to protect those who have made California the incredible state it is.  Please explore our website to learn more about our ongoing efforts across the state and in Sacramento, where we’re working to ensure that California’s legislators adopt laws to help our ever-growing senior and disabled populations. I look forward to working with you towards a brighter future for us all.

Sincerely,

Hugh Hallenberg
